Acer Foresees Tougher Tablet Competition From Summer Onwards

But the good thing is that the hardware vendor seems totally and thoroughly prepared for whatever the future will bring. And according to Acer, June is when the stakes are really going to multiply.

Summer is when most market analysts expect a whole new ballgame in the tablet realm.

Both Intel and AMD are gearing up to launch new CPUs and platforms, and the sunny days of summer are going to see a new wave of products (and details) from several hardware vendors, including Microsoft, Apple and Google.

Acer is convinced that competition will really kick into the next gear starting this June, and claims that it is prepared to be on top of things before the arrival of the summer season — in most parts of the world that is, geographically speaking.

The market, sources say, could potentially make way for powerful slates that cost from $150 to $200.

Several 10-inch tablets are also said to be in the pipeline, from the hardware maker. As far as SoCs (system on a chip) are concerned, the company plans to use MediaTek chips that are set to launch in August — instead of solutions from NVIDIA, Samsung of Qualcomm.

Sources believe that HP and Lenovo are set to join in the tablet party soon, and this is the reason why Acer is adapting and altering its tablet roadmap.

The company also recently reiterated its plans to launch a Windows RT tablet later this year. And with Windows 8.1 right around the corner (in technology terms, at least) the future of mobile computing sure is about to get real interesting.
