Acer Iconia W3 Windows 8 Tablet Now Available For Preorder

Acer’s upcoming 8-inch touch-enabled Windows 8 tablet was the talk of the town at TechEd in New Orleans last week, and now the tablet is available for preorder at a couple of retailers.

Both Amazon and Staples have the tablet listed for preordering at $379.99.

While Amazon believes that they will be able to start shipping the device in around three to four weeks, Staples on the other hand has a much shorter window — claiming that the device will be available for shipping as early as June 15.

That’s more like it!

The Acer Iconia W3 has been in the news these past month or so for all the right reasons. The 8-inch touchscreen tablet is powered by an Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail processor that runs at a clock speed of 1.5GHz — Intel Burst Technology can bump the speed to 1.8GHz when needed.

On the display side of things, the touchscreen on the device features a resolution of 1280 by 800.

The device houses 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. But a microSD card slot is available to expand the storage horizons. Two megapixel front and rear cameras handle imaging duties, and the battery life is reportedly said to last up to eight hours.

Amazon also has a 64GB variant of the tablet that it has priced at $429.99. The tablet runs the full version of Windows 8 (easily upgradable to Windows Blue or 8.1 when released), and both versions of the tablet come with a free copy of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013.
