All Windows Phone 8.1 Versions Eligible For Windows 10

Some timely confirmation from Microsoft. The company recently revealed that all Windows Phone 8.1 versions will directly be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for Phones once the new OS launches.

In fact, the next version of the Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview will be installable from all build of Windows Phone 8.1 — some users were unable to upgrade their phones to the first preview version unless they used an application to flash their handsets.

But soon, there will be no need for a recovery tool to flash a device to a lower build.

In order to upgrade to Windows 10 for Phones, that is to say.

This was confirmed by Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, who revealed that the next build will support upgrade from higher base version.

We also have intelligence that the next Windows 10 for Phones preview build is on track for release in the second week of April, meaning we are merely days away from a new version. Redmond is apparently hard at work on testing and refining a build as of this writing.

The company has put some hard work on this new build, as recently leaked screenshots and videos can amply attest. Several new features and options are included in this next iteration.

Fingers crossed for no more setbacks.
