If there is one thing you will find plenty of in the Windows Store, it’s a varied collection of file managers for the Modern user interface of Windows 8. It’s time to try out another one.
File Brick is one of the more advanced file managing application, and while the design is perfectly serviceable, it is in functionality where this free app really shines.
All basic operations like copy, cut, paste and delete are supported, and you get in-app playback and viewing capabilities of media files including music, video and photos. The helpful thumbnail view make breezing through folders absolutely effortless.
The official description states:
“Simple, responsive, and stable, File Brick combines local drive and cloud storage to help you explore your files more easily while providing full functions of a file manager.
More than that, File Brick also serves the role to link your social network including Facebook and Twitter, and media channels such as Youtube, Picasa and Flickr. Now you can browse your friends’ shared photos or your Youtube channels as easy as you are browsing your local folder.”
File Brick can be used to browse files in local drives (hard disk, external USB storage, phones and cameras) as well as files store in the cloud — everything from Dropbox to SkyDrive and Facebook is supported.
While the app is as feature rich as they come, the free version offers limited capabilities and comes with ads. You will need the paid version to unlock the full power of the application, as it enables Box, YouTube, Picasa, Flickr and Twitter access.
