This is a small yet welcome change. Minecraft, one of the most popular games of all time, is about to witness a change on the PC platform, a change that will affect Windows users of the blockbuster title.

In case you’re unaware, Minecraft on PC has traditionally been available to download in two separate editions — the Java and Bedrock Editions. Both flavors of the game are unique, with the former being originally available and the latter a fresher introduction in 2017.

But the big news is that all this changes now.

Starting June 7, both versions of the game will be sold together.

That is, a single purchase will now give you both editions of the game in one convenient package called Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC. The new package will offer players both editions of the game to play with one purchase.

Good news for those who have already purchased one of the editions: Anyone missing the Bedrock or Java Edition from their library will be granted the missing version for free. The process begins today and will be rolled out within two to three days via the Minecraft Launcher.

Pricing information for the new Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC package has not been revealed alongside the introduction. However, the company confirms that individual purchase options for the duo are going away.

In case you’re wondering, the features of these two products are not being altered. Examples are modding support for the more flexible, better performing, and visually superior Java Edition and cross-platform multiplayer support for the smoother and faster loading Bedrock.

Only thing that is altered is that PC players are gaining access to both versions of the game.

And with this small change, peace has once again returned to the Minecraft valley!
