China Publishes Secret List Of Microsoft’s Android Patents

completed a couple of months back. According to this report, the documents were posted on the English version of the ministry’s website, and 73 of these patents are of the standard-essential variety. Mostly used on smartphones, that is. Unofficial reports claim that Redmond rakes in around $2 billion every year in royalties, thanks to these Android patents for technologies that other manufacturers need to launch smartphones, tablets and other such mobile devices that are powered by Android. China has also revealed 127 patents that are part of several Android devices, along with a whole bunch of non-standard-essential ones. No comment from Microsoft on this rather disturbing turn of events, but there is no doubting the fact that the technology titan cannot be pleased with this leak. Whether we see an official reaction, remains to be seen.]]>
