Boy, the Denim Update for Lumia handsets is turning out to be a rather slow process overall. The rollout began last year, still continues, but carriers and networks are taking their sweet time here.
Microsoft has not actually provided us with too many details on the rollout.
Expect mentioning that everyone should get it by the end of January — yet here we are on January 16, and not many phones are powered by the Denim update. An overwhelming majority of devices are still on the previous version, the Lumia Cyan.
Anyway, according to this report, several European markets are getting the Denim treatment, at least on the Lumia 930. Here is a little list of countries that are now getting this new firmware:
- Belgium (Country variant and Proximus)
- Czech Republic (Vodafone)
- France (Country variant and SFR)
- German (Country variant, O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone)
- Hungary (Vodafone)
- Italy (Country variant and 3 Italy)
- Netherlands (Country variant and Vodafone)
- Poland (Polkomtel and T-Mobile)
- Portugal (Vodafone)
- Saudi Arabia
- Taiwan (Country variant and CHT)
- United Arab Emirates
- United Kingdom (Vodafone)
In case you’re not in the loop, Lumia Denim is an anticipated release for most users, as this firmware brings along several camera improvements, while at the same time refining the platform further.
Then there’s also the “Hey Cortana” option, Live Folders and other tweaks.
Anyway, this newest bit of news is a little progress, and one can only hope that all other compatible handsets get the update notification soon. Windows Phone 10 is apparently right around the corner, so getting this flavor out to everyone is imperative.
