Since windows 7 my number of BSOD’s has drastically reduced. I have not seen one in months, if not years. Having said that, I have seen quite a lot of OSX crashes, more than I have had with Windows 7 running on the same hardware. I do like that they re-designed the BSOD screen, however I think that there should be an option for users to view more detailed information about the crash, as this can help developers identify which files in their applications might be causing the system to crash.
That would do well for the beta tests 🙂
As a driver dev I certainly enjoyed the failing driver name (e.g. SPCMDCON.SYS as seen above) which would gie you a quick hint if the issue is already known or not. I guess now in Win8 you must open the dump to get this, which will certainly takes more time.
I suggest Microsoft puts the failing driver name onto the new BSOD. Pretty please.
I saw a BSOD only ONCE.. and that was because my RAM was burned out.
