Download ISOs For The First Windows 10 Iron Build

Microsoft today released the first Insider preview from the Iron development branch, and in the process moved away from the useless mn_release branch that is devoid of any major new additions.

To kick things off, build 20150 comes with three new features.

All for the Windows Subsystem for Linux.

Rather tidily, the company also released some new ISOs for this new build. Perfect, if you want to do a clean installation on your system or test things out in a virtual environment. As is typically the case, the selection includes all the usual suspects.

Windows 10, Windows 10 Enterprise, and Windows 10 Home China.

Redmond does not usually publish ISO images for preview versions of Windows 10 this early in the development cycle. For the obvious reason of having users get things going with the Windows Update feature for a new line of builds.

But this time things are different, refreshing even.

To get an idea, consider the fact that the Slow ring has Windows 10 build 19041 on offer, which is the RTM build for the 20H1 release. Things are even crazier in the Release Preview ring, which is offering a download for build 18363, the RTM for the 19H2 release.

This, despite the fact that the Release Preview ring has made available 20H1 bits since April.

Other than Windows Server, other downloads are not available, like a new SDK, ADK, WDK, HLK, or Desktop App Converter Base Image. All in due time, of course.
