Facebook Has Now Become The Top Free Windows 8.1 App

It did not take long for the official Facebook app to start tearing up the charts. The social network released the Windows app last week, around the same time Windows 8.1 made its public debut.

And the modern client has quickly zoomed past the competition to become the top free Windows 8.1 application right now in the Store.

It works exclusively on Microsoft’s new operating system, but it has taken the app just a week to rake up more than 4,800 ratings to go with an overall score of 4.

Facebook is followed by usual suspects like Disney’s Where’s My Water 2? Official Netflix and Skype clients are also in good company right at the very top.

More impressively, however, the development team behind the app keeps improving it on a regular basis. It already saw one update soon after official release, and a new minor update was released earlier today that fixes bugs and other small issues for the app on Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.

Details on what this latest update brings, however, are scarce, but it is nice to see it being regularly supported by the developer.

The Facebook app comes with all essential features to post new messages and chat with friends and members on the social network from right within the Modern UI. It also packs in a simple and straightforward user interface.
