details, with a comment from Google’s CEO Larry Page:
“Alan brings a wealth of proven business and technology leadership experience. I am so pleased that Alan is now joining Google’s board.”I’m sure, many are, Larry. Mulally handled the duties of president and chief executive officer at Ford, and had been with the automaker between September 2006 and June 2014. Prior to that he spent time at Boeing, serving as the executive vice president and the president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. An illustrated and impressive resume, sure, but his decision to join Google comes as a bit of a surprise. He himself announced that he was not interested in taking the job at Microsoft, and instead wanted to stay with Ford through 2014. With almost half the year remaining, it appears that Alan Mulally had a change of heart, and decided to part ways with his previous employer at the start of the month.]]>
Looks like he is opportunist.
Good move for him. Outside of once being considered for the CEO of Microsoft, this really won’t affect Redmond at all. It is what it is at this point. Powerful men in these situations take the best jobs for them when they arise. Can’t blame ’em.
