Gestures Beta App For Lumia Devices Launched

allows users of Lumia smartphones the ability to control certain functions on their devices, without having to touch the screens. The range of functions is rather limited right now, understandably. It is specifically limited to voice call management right now. A selection of some of the functions available:

• Answer a call by picking up your phone and putting it to you ear
• Mute your mic during a call by placing the phone on a flat surface with the display facing down
• Put the call on speaker by placing the phone on a flat surface with the display facing up
• Silence incoming call ringer by flipping phone display down

Hopefully by the time the application is out of the beta, it would have learned some new tricks. The Lumia 530, 635 and 635, the budget devices that they are, do not offer support for all of the function in the Gestures Beta app right now — no doubt due to the limited array of onboard sensors that they house. Nevertheless, owners of Lumia devices will welcome the addition of these features, even though they are very much limited on some smartphones right now.]]>
