Hotel Provides Surface Pro Tablets To Guests In Every Room

announced a deal with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, which has agreed to put Surface Pro tablets in guest rooms. These slates will have custom lock screen and apps that would bring easier access to services to people staying in these hotels. Four hotels are included in this initial run, in London, Washington DC, Las Vegas, and Tokyo. In the words of Monika Nerger, CIO of Mandarin Oriental:

“As a brand known for our legendary hospitality, we’re always pushing ourselves to create unique, premium guest experiences. We are currently operating in 25 countries, and with our expansion into new markets we needed a powerful, secure, yet easy-to-manage solution with robust language support, which Microsoft technologies can offer. Through this partnership we can create digital experiences that cater to our guests’ needs and expectations whenever they stay with us.”
Redmond explained that so far things are going according to plan, and the early feedback from guests, as collected by the hotel, is very positive. Interestingly, guests can log in with their own Microsoft Accounts to access their emails and personal files stored on OneDrive. After the checkout, the device is automatically wiped clean, and the original data (hotel information and apps) is restored. The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will soon start a new pilot program with an additional 1,000 tablets, including the recently announced Surface Pro 3.]]>
