A new addition to Windows 10 is the ability to pause updates, which as the name applies is a handy little feature to briefly halt the process of downloading and installing updates on your PC.
You can temporarily pause the deployment of updates on your device for up to 7 days.
Upon resuming, the operating system will get the latest updates that are available for your system, before you will be able to pause updates again for 7 days. It’s not exactly an ideal solution, and the feature is sans the necessary management options, but it’s better than nothing.
Here’s how you can pause updates in Windows 10.
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap or click on the Update and security icon.
3. With the Windows Update option selected, click on Advanced options under the Update settings section of the panel.
4. Scroll down to the Pause Updates section, and you will see a toggle that will tell you the exact date until the installation of updates will be paused on your system.
5. Do the deed.
6. If you resume updates, Windows will check for the latest refreshes that are available. If there are none, you will be able to pause the update again for 7 days. If they are, then they will be installed before you get the option to pause updates once again.
