The mid-range market is where the numbers are at — at least as far as the Windows Phone platform is concerned. All four Windows Phone manufacturers are well aware of this fact, and Nokia in particular seems to be concentrating on this segment.

And with great results too — both the Lumia 520 and 620 have registered great sales numbers the world over. And the just announced large-screen Lumia 625 is set to join both these affordable handsets in just a few months.

The number two Windows Phone handset maker, HTC, has long been rumored to be planning to release a certain HTC Zara smartphone. Word is that the Taiwanese maker is gearing up to launch the device before the end of the year.

New reports on the matter claim that a new Windows Phone device is expected to go official at IFA 2013 in Berlin, this September. However, not much information has been provided on the hardware specifications of the handset.

WMPowerUser, however, notes that this could very well be the HTC Zara, which has already been said to feature a plastic design, not dissimilar to the company’s popular 8S and 8X smartphones. If true, this could probably be a midrange and affordable device.

Keep in mind that none of this is official as or right now, and the handset has not been confirmed by the company. But judging by the intensifying reports, it might not be long before HTC formally announces it.
