Huawei Refreshes MateBook D Windows 10 Laptops

Looks like Huawei means business! A report from a fairly reliable Chinese website reveals that the company is refreshing its MateBook D lineup of Windows 10 laptops.

The company had announced the original MateBook D, along with two other Windows 10 devices in the MateBook lineup, back in May. The X is a 13-inch laptop with a very thin body and fanless design, while the E was a tablet.

According to the information provided, these new laptops have not radically changed, but they do come with the new 8th generation processors from Intel, which now offer up to a 30% boost in performance, thanks to these being truly quad-core chips.

In addition to the CPU, Huawei has also improved the dedicated GPU.

Adding in the wonderfully powerful NVIDIA MX150, which is sure to deliver a notably improved performance than the NVIDIA 940MX, which powered the previous generation model.

The new MateBook D is set to be offered in three models.

First of this being the base model with Core i5-8250U, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. The second, powered by the i5-8250U, with 8GB RAM, as well as a 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD. And finally, one that houses the Core i7-8550U, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD with 1TB HDD.

And in case you’re wondering, there has been no word yet on a refreshed MateBook E, which should not be surprising, considering the fact that Intel has not announced its 8th generation Y-series processors as of this writing.

What is surprising is that Huawei has made no mention of the MateBook X, the flagship of this lineup.

Perhaps this is something that the company is reserving for later.
