Huawei Seems To Have Abandoned Plans For A Dual OS Smartphone

ready to become the first vendor with a dual boot tablet. But the chief marketing officer of Huawei, Shao Yang said last week that the company was looking to release a smartphone with two operating systems installed — Android and Windows Phone. Now, however, their official stance seems to have changed. An unnamed spokesperson from Huawei has released the following statement:

“Huawei Consumer Business Group adopts an open approach towards mobile operating systems to provide a range of choices for consumers, However, most of our products are based on Android OS, [and] at this stage there are no plans to launch a dual-OS smartphone in the near future.”
So there you go — as complete an about turn as any. However, they are not completely discounting such a venture in the future, signaling that probably were forced to abandon this endeavor by some company. Probably Google, who knows? Either that, or they believe the market conditions are not ideal for such a device right now. Anyway, fans of the Windows Phone platform do have a couple of options right now form Huawei, the Ascend W1 and W2. A third smartphones, the Ascend W3, has been rumored for a while now, and might hit store shelves in the next couple of months.]]>
