Huawei Working on 7.7mm Thick 4.5-inch Windows Phone Handset

Windows Phone 8 has found much wider success than Windows Phone 7 ever did, especially when it comes to the Nokia Lumia 920. Still, many of the Windows Phone 8 handsets on the market are still considered a little on the bulky side.

As proven by the existence of monster phablet phones, some people don’t mind bigger phones. Others though, like much thinner devices. While we recently mentioned that Huawei is supposedly working on a monster phablet that could run Windows Phone 8, they might be working on something for fans of smaller, thinner phones as well.

According to cnBeta, unnamed sources say that the upcoming Ascend W2 willl be just 7.7mm thick. Additionally, the phone will have a 4.5-inch screen, a dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and an 8MP camera.

More than likely, the Ascend W2 will arrive at Mobile World Congress next month. If Huawei also shows of a 6-inch Windows Phone device, it will give them the widest variety in Windows Phone hardware. HTC and Nokia might have decent offerings, but they are arguably quite similar.

Huawei seems to be doing its own thing, and hopefully that pays off for the company. What do you think of Huawei’s Windows Phone efforts based on what we know so far? Interested or do you think that Samsung, HTC and Nokia remain better options when it comes to meeting demand for Windows Phone 8?
