Cloud Engineer

Job Summary:

The Sr. Cloud Engineer role will use the skills required of a Systems Administrator in an in-house or hosted environment, as well as working knowledge of the skills required to provision, manage, monitor, and decommission cloud services.

Job Duties:

  • Provides on-going support and management of the Cloud portals and services rendered from within.
  • Documents, adheres to, and enforces Cloud Governance, security policies, initiatives, and compliance reporting. Collaborates with management to suggest and implement strategic direction for cloud governance.
  • Examines ways to continuously improve quality of processes and design to provide optimum availability, integrity and performance of company's assets.
  • Creates and maintains resource consumption reporting for financial show back and reserved resource optimization.
  • Supports off premises/cloud initiatives and migrations.
  • Maintains and supports operational support systems running within the Cloud tenants.
  • Develops and maintains automation designed to reduce cost, enable resource transparency, or otherwise enforce Cloud process and procedures.
  • Prioritizes and executes tasks with high-pressure demands, within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Exemplifies Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in computer science, engineering, or related degree and minimum seven (7) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Three (3) years of in-depth knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience in modern source code management and continuous integration platform like Git, Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio Team Services, Jenkins, etc.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience scripting (BASH, Perl, PowerShell, Python) and building required automation (using standard technologies such as Puppet, Ansible, and Chef)
  • Ability and experience driving and leading cloud requirement, troubleshooting, design, and implementation sessions and activities.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert MCSE Cloud
  • Three (3) years knowledge of broadcast transcoding and workflow automation systems.
  • Experience in modern source code management and continuous integration platform like Git, Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio Team Services, Jenkins, etc.
  • Familiarity with container creation and orchestration platforms; Docker, Kubernetes, Swarm, etc.
  • Ability and experience driving and leading cloud requirement, troubleshooting, design, and implementation sessions and activities.
  • Ability to conduct research into hardware and software issues and products.
  • Minimum three (3) years working knowledge of cloud services: SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and Managed Services
  • Minimum three (3) years working knowledge of Multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, and databases.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with various virtualization technologies and multi-tenant, private and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Minimum three (3) years working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including firewalls, Active Directory, etc.
  • Minimum three (3) years system administration (Windows or Linux) at the command-line level.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience scripting (BASH, Perl, PowerShell, Python) and building required automation (using standard technologies such as Puppet, Ansible, and Chef)
  • Minimum three (3) years hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.

Certification Requirements:

  • Preferred, but not required certifications: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert MCSE Cloud, Cisco Certified Network Professional CCNP, Google Certified Professional or Associate.

Essential Functions:

  • Normal work week: On-site, Monday through Friday, minimum eight (8) hour day
  • Provide after hours on-call support as needed
