Jumplists, Multiple Taskbar Thumbnails For Metro Apps In Windows 8.1 Update 1

jumplists for Modern UI apps on Windows 8.1 Update 1. These were introduced for desktop programs in Windows 7, and reveal specific features and items in a list that are displayed by right-clicking the icon. The screenshot above shows a jumplist on the Microsoft Reader app. Another new addition is the inclusion of multiple thumbnail windows for Windows Store apps that offer support for multiple windows — as in Internet Explorer. This feature, again, has been around since Windows 7. You can see it in action in the screenshot below: windows_81_update_1_feature_jumplists_a Not the most blockbuster of features, but useful, nevertheless. And finally, another smallest of features have been revealed in one of the latest leaked updates. Metro media apps (like Xbox Music), when placed in a taskbar, can pop up a media control when the cursor hovers over an icon. This allows quick access to playback functions like play, pause and rewind when the Metro app is running in the background. Perfect for people that live in a multimedia world. What do you guys and gals think of these (small) new additions? Handy or hopeless? Let it be known!]]>
