Leak Shows HP Is Readying The Premium Spectre 13 x360

HP has made some big strides these past few months launching several budget devices, but the high-end Spectre 13 x360 seems like a good choice for those with more expensive tastes.

This new Windows 8.1 convertible looks like a direct competitor for the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro.

Leaked details show the Spectre has a similar 360 degrees hinge like the Yoga, which effectively turns the device into a large and hefty tablet by allowing the display to be folded all the way back and over. Not the ideal of scenarios, but some users are into it.

It does come packed with powerful hardware, though, namely:

  • 3-inch LCD with Quad HD (2560x1440px) resolution
  • Intel Core i5-5200U or Core i7 5500U processor
  • 8GB LPDDR3 RAM
  • 256GB or 512GB onboard storage
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n
  • Miracast, WiDi support, Bluetooth 4.0
  • 3 x USB 3.0 ports; HDMI-out; mini DisplayPort; SD card slot
  • 5kg weight
  • 9mm thickness

The device is set for launch in Italy in February, with prices in the country starting from €1,299. That corresponds to around $1,465 — pretty expensive for a convertible, premium or not.

We should however have more of an idea of everything the Spectre 13 x360 brings when HP makes it official in the near future. Of particular interest would be the details of local pricing and availability in other markets.

Still, good to see some premium action on the Windows hardware front.
