Leaked Documents Reveal The Windows 8.1 Preview System Requirements

The preview version of Windows 8.1 is set to officially debut on June 26, and more details about this build of the upcoming operating system are surfacing as we near this date.

A bunch of new screenshots that reached the web reveal the system requirements for the preview version of the first major overhaul for the company’s flagship operating system. Microsoft explains that this upgrade works great on the same hardware that powers Windows 8.

The desktop versions of Windows 8.1 Preview reportedly come with these official system requirements:

Processor: 1 GHz or faster
RAM: 1 GB for the 32-bit version or 2 GB for the 64-bit version
Free hard disk space: 16 GB for the 32-bit version or 20 GB for the 64-bit version
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver

Pretty standard system requirements, and any PC built during the past few years should be able to run the preview version of Windows 8.1 with comfortable ease.

Do keep in mind that these are from a Q&A that will be posted on the company’s official website around the time Windows 8.1 Preview makes its public debut, and could potentially change (or be updated) when the final version comes around later this year.
