Business is picking up in the Windows Mixed Reality front, with Lenovo officially confirming that its upcoming headset will be call the Explorer. And it will have similar specifications to the other HMDs.
Head mounted displays, that is.
Like the ones announced by Dell, Acer, ASUS and friends.
The Explorer will make use of inside-out tracking so that you will not need an external camera to track your position. The included Y-cable will connect to a USB Type-A port and HDMI, and the device will rock two 1440 x 1440 displays.
Here is a peak at how this new headset looks:
Lenovo has joined the Windows Mixed Reality party in style!
As for system requirements, they will be exactly what Microsoft announced earlier this week.
Which is to say a PC with integrated graphics will be able to use Windows Mixed Reality at 60fps, while computer with discrete graphics cards can achieve 90 frames per second. Supported models include the NVIDIA GTX 965M and AMD RX 460M, or better.
The Lenovo Explorer will be available globally beginning in October, with a unit price of $349. The company will also sell it as a bundle that includes Motion Controllers for $449.
