While LG continues to rise up the ladder of worth in the smartphone world, they haven’t had the same kind of luck when it comes to computers or tablets just yet. It seems they won’t let that hold them back though, and have now announced a new tablet-notebook hybrid that they plan to show off in detail at Mobile World Congress.
The new device will be called the LG Tab-Book, and while the design doesn’t appear to be revolutionary different than some of the other slider-style hybrids, it still looks sharp enough.
What really helps the LG Tab-Book stand out is that apparently it will be come packed with 4G LTE technology right out of the box, which could make it an appealing choice for business users looking for a way to get on the net without the need for Wi-Fi.
Honestly, for those in the enterprise world that constantly travel, hybrids seem to make more sense to me than convertibles that can separate from their dock/base. The biggest problem with docking tablets like the Surface Pro is that you have to remember the dock and it is an extra something to carry with you wherever you go.
With devices like the LG Tab-Book, things seem simpler. What really makes the Tab-Book stand out though is the “Auto Sliding Button”. Simply put, you push a button and the keyboard instantly slides out for easy use.
Beyond that, the LG Tab-Book is powered by an Intel Core i5 Processor and has 5-point multi-touch. Additionally its display has wide 178-degree viewing angels and is of the IPS variety.
So when is it coming? That’s a good question. The South Korean market will see it sometime this week, though no pricing is yet known. As for markets like the United States? It seems possible they will bring it out, but no real information yet. Likely more will be revealed at MWC.
Honestly, I like the looks of this one. The convenient push-button design adds to the appeal and if this is light enough, and cheap enough – it could really be a great alternative for enterprise and casual users that are considering the Surface Pro but would rather having a sliding keyboard over an attaching one.
