Library UI in Microsoft Store gets a visual overhaul

August 27, 2022

Microsoft has rolled out a new Windows 11 preview build in the form of build 22000.168, and this new version brings along a couple of fresh additions to go with the usual blend of bug fixes.

And other improvements.

On the topic of improvements, Microsoft has also begun rolling out a Store update for Insiders enrolled in the preview program. This newest version of the Microsoft Store gets some touchups that improve the user interface.

Microsoft Store Library UI

First up, we have a complete overhaul of the Library UI to go with performance improvements. We have simpler navigation, and using this side of the Microsoft Store is now breezier than ever.

The oft-visited Library page of the Microsoft Store was very much in need of refinements like these, and here they are.

Microsoft Store Spotlight Details

Redmond has also updated the Spotlight design for promoted products in the Microsoft Store app. Hovering over these items now lets you see a tad more details.

The update is rolling out as Microsoft Store version 22108.1401.9.0 to Windows Insiders in the Dev channel first, and will be arriving for the others later down the road.

Overall, a neat couple of touches to the Store app, which has been getting updates like these regularly.

What is missing, however, is native support for Android apps in the Windows 11 operating system, and how these will be housed in the Microsoft Store. The company likely has something elaborate planned for this anticipated feature, which is probably why it is taking its sweet time.

But for now, these little touchups should tide us over.
