Some may opine that Microsoft has delayed this by a few months, but even if it should have done this a bit sooner, the software titan is paying due attention to gaming for its leading platform.

Redmond just now announced a deal to bring several classic games to the Windows Store, and it has also penned a brand new agreement with Gameloft that will have the developer bring a total of 15 games onto Windows 8 over the next 12 months.

Things will get underway this fall with games like Asphalt 8: Airborne and Dungeon Hunter 4.

And the release cycle will continue in the next months with several more exciting and engaging games, like Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Total Conquest, Six Guns and UNO & Friends.

How can anyone say no to UNO & Friends?

Steve Guggenheimer, the corporate vice president of Developer and Platform Evangelism at Microsoft said in a blog post:

“We’re thrilled to work with a gaming industry leader such as Gameloft to deliver top casual and core titles to our customers this holiday.

We strive to make Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 the best platform for gaming. With top gaming companies such as Gameloft investing in the platform, it is evident that there is no better time for game developers and gamers alike to choose Windows.”

Some of these games will feature cross platform compatibility between Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, though the companies have not exactly announced the titles that will.

And that’s not all folks — Microsoft and Gameloft have also promised to continue their partnership in 2014, to bring an impressive lineup of game, details of which are to be announced at a later date.
