Microsoft Buys Acompli For Just Over $200 Million

reports, the deal is worth north of $200 million. The email application connects with Outlook and Google email services, and works seamlessly on both the iOS and Android mobile platforms. The veteran team behind the application, VMware and ZImbra, have now become Microsoft employees. This is what Microsoft said about the acquisition:

“This acquisition is part of our company-wide effort to help people accomplish more with their mobile devices. This year we brought Office to the iPad and the iPhone, and we recently announced that we’re bringing Office to Android devices. These are significant steps in our work to deliver the best productivity experiences across mobile platforms, and we’re continuing to push forward.”
Even though this is a startup, and there are a number of competing apps available, Acompli boasts a feature set (and a polished look and feel) that help it stand out.
