Microsoft Confirms Windows Blue, Will Hold Build Conference in June

Now that Windows Blue has leaked to the net, seems kind of pointless for Microsoft to keep mum about it doesn’t it? That’s apparently how Microsoft feels as well. The company has now confirmed that they are holding the next BUILD conference for June 26th through the 28th in San Fransico.

Registration opens at 9PM PDT on April 2nd. While announcing the BUILD conference is good news, the even better news is that Microsoft now officially recognizes ‘Blue’ as a set of internal plans and hopes to talk more about it and their future plans at BUILD.

According to Frank Shaw in a new Microsoft post:

With a remarkable foundation of products in market and a clear view of how we will evolve the company, product leaders across Microsoft are working together on plans to advance our devices and services, a set of plans referred to internally as “Blue.”

This is great news because it means Microsoft has finally confirmed that Blue isn’t just something of rumor – though we pretty much knew that already, it is still nice to hear Microsoft confirm it.

Microsoft further states that at BUILD they will share updates about Windows, Windows Server, Azure and Visual Studio. Interestingly enough, Windows Phone isn’t on the list. This could mean a separate Windows Phone conference could be taking place a bit later and will talk about Phone Blue then.

Now it looks like we just have to wait around for the summer to get the rest of the juicy details about Windows Blue. Are you excited? I know I am!
