Microsoft Donates Software Worth $2 Million To Children’s Charity

You’d have to think really hard to name a technology company that gives more away to charity than Microsoft. Google comes close, but Redmond is in a league of its own with several charitable programs on record.

The software titan frequently provides new software (and latest technologies) to organizations around the world, in an effort to back their activities.

And the best bit is that the giving is not just limited to its products and services — monitory giveaways are a regular occurrence as well, both by Microsoft as well as its employees.

The latest to receive a donation is Children’s Home Society — Microsoft has donated $2 million worth of software and licenses to the organization as it lacked the funds for a major upgrade to its network infrastructure, office and productivity software, along with communication tools.

The organization’s systems manager, Nathan Headley, made a statement to ArgusLeader saying:

“I can’t thank Microsoft enough. This grant equips CHS with cutting-edge technology for our staff, students, and clients so we can better communicate with outside entities and better serve our children.”

Children’s Home Society is set up to serve abused and neglected children in South Dakota (as well as some neighboring states). The organization is said to have help more than 2,000 kids in the year 2012.

All in all, another good deed in the bag! Good going, Redmond, more power to you!
