Office 365 continues its march of conquest, as Microsoft has just announced that its communication and collaborations platform has been picked by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for its National Societies the world over.
This is a major score for Redmond, as this deal would bring Office 365 to more than 1 million IFRC staff members and volunteers across the world.
Edward Happ, the global chief information officer, IFRC said:
“The success we saw from real-world use of Office 365 in our American and Danish Red Cross Societies helped pave the way to this broader adoption. And now, for the first time in our history, all of our National Societies will have the ability to free up IT spending and time to focus more of their resources on the activities that are ultimately saving lives.”
The American and Dutch National Societies of IFRC have already transitioned to Office 365, and now the IFRC headquarters in Geneva will also deploy Microsoft’s cloud based solution in the near future.
SaaS (software-as-a-service) has been on the fringes for a few years now, but it seems like the expanded focus on cloud is finally starting to bring solutions like these to the forefront of enterprises and organizations worldwide.
