Microsoft Is Now Selling Refurbished Surface RT Tablets For $299

Redmond cut the prices of its Surface RT slates by $150 back in July, which resulted in the units being available at $349 for the 32GB version and $449 for the 64GB model.

Now the company is offering refurbished models of its first ever tablet at even lower prices. The 32GB refurbished Surface RT model comes with a price tag of just $299, and the 64GB flavor can be had for a slightly higher amount — $349 to be exact.

And in case anyone is wondering whether a refurbished model is significantly inferior to a brand new one, Microsoft explains the difference between the two on its official website:

“When you buy a refurbished Surface tablet, you’re getting a solid piece of Windows-based technology that’s been carefully examined and meticulously refurbished by our expert staff. All returned Surface tablets are tuned up and re-flashed with the latest software versions and apps, so they’re as fresh as the day they were originally built. It includes a one-year limited warranty.”

In other words, there should be no concern of any kind if you decide to go for a refurbished unit. These are thoroughly examined and checked for quality, as Microsoft put it.

Plus, these units do come with a free version of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 RT installed.

The technology titan is said to be readying the second-generation Surface tablets, and quite obviously wants to clear out the current inventory as much as it can before the refreshed lineup arrives on the store shelves.
