Microsoft Talks Why Windows 8.1 Is The Best Choice For Financial Institutions

Windows 8.1 is right around the corner, with the first ever upgrade to Microsoft’s flagship operating platform on track to launch in October. Needless to say, anticipation is already sky high and climbing.

And with major development work now complete, the company is now shifting attention towards showcasing its latest creation, both in the media, and via blog posts on its communication channels.

Soon after the Sibos financial event that was held in Abu Dhabi, Redmond took the opportunity to talk about the enterprise features of Windows 8.1, and how the upcoming operating system addresses the needs of financial businesses and institutions.

Erwin Visser of Microsoft explained how the upcoming release improves upon the vanilla Windows 8 platform with advanced features aimed at enterprises:

“Windows 8 was built to help employees stay productive and connected on the go. Windows 8.1 advances this vision and introduces new manageability, mobility, security, and networking capabilities that I’ve mentioned here before.

We designed Windows 8.1 with enterprise needs in mind, to ensure companies, especially in sectors like financial services, have advanced tools to protect their sensitive information –including biometrics for user authentication, remote business data removal for BYOD devices, and encryption support on all Windows 8.1 devices.”

The company also talked about how businesses, large and small, can carry out their most important tasks right within the Modern UI:

“It’s so great to see these companies taking advantage of mobile innovation to better serve their customers and help employees be more productive.”

Visser finished things off by encouraging business and entrepreneurial users to give Windows 8.1 a try and take out the new features and options in the upcoming operating system for a test drive.

Windows 8.1 is set for its official public debut next month — October 18 to be exact. Users that are already on Windows 8, however, will be able to download the upgrade a day earlier, straight from the Windows Store.
