Microsoft Unveils My Server App For Windows 8

From My Computer to My Server, how times change. Microsoft recently launched the My Server app for Windows 8 for people that want to access server resources right from within the Modern interface.

Now this is one app that looks set for the win. The app can be used to manage users, devices and alerts, but the best part is that recently opened files can also be managed with ease. Any changes made offline are automatically synchronized once the app connects with the Internet.

The sheer power of modern software, eh?

My Server has received excellent rating up till now, a sure sign not only of the quality of the app, but also the excellent usability. As the official description reads:

“With My Server, you can manage users, devices, alerts, and access shared files in Windows Server 2012 Essentials. In addition, files that you have recently accessed with My Server files continue to be available to you even when offline.”

Along with the ability to browse, edit and search files on the server, the app can also playback media files store on the server making this a perfect companion for people that have media servers set up.
