Microsoft Updates Windows 8 Games Ahead Of Windows Blue Preview

With the impending arrival of the preview build of Windows Blue on June 26, Redmond has been quietly busy updating several of the modern apps and games that are included with the vanilla Windows 8.

The company is currently applying final touches to the built-in Windows 8 Metro applications, with Microsoft Solitaire being one of the games that got improved early this morning along with Minesweeper and Mahjong.

Updates for each of three games should now be reflected in the Windows Store.

The release notes reveal that the games have received several enhancements — including code optimizations, which basically means that they are even more resource friendly, and should now run smoother on Windows 8 and the upcoming Windows 8.1 refresh of the operating system.

The preview version of Windows 8.1 (codename Windows Blue) is to be unveiled on June 26 during the BUILD developer conference.

In addition to many other improvements the upcoming operating system is set to come with a bunch of new Metro apps, including a calculator and Movie Movements tool.

And speaking of games, it is not yet clear whether the software titan is bundling a new game or two with the new OS, but at this point in time an inclusion of a new title would not be surprising, considering just how much Microsoft has kept Windows 8.1 under wraps.
