HTC already enjoys a distinct partnership with Microsoft, thanks to its Windows Phone devices. But speculation of a Windows RT slate from the hardware maker has been growing for some time now.
The rumors last popped up back in December about two upcoming tablets sporting the HTC logo and running Windows RT. And now another report has surfaced — citing unnamed sources, by the way — that claims to have more information about the hardware these tablets pack.
According to PhoneArena.com the tablets are codenamed R7 and R12.
R7, according to the sources is said to sport a 7 inch full HD screen with a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor inside. It will have 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of storage. A 13 megapixel rear camera and a microSD card are also said to make the cut.
Interestingly, while HTC seems to have cut some corners with the onboard storage capacity (which is nevertheless complemented by expandable microSD options), the hardware itself is premium.
R12, on the other hand, takes the premium to an entirely new level.
As the name suggests, this particular tablet is said to feature a 12 inch display running a resolution of 2048 by 1536. The other hardware is said to be largely the same, though the impressive display and large screen will be a welcome option for those that require it.
The article suggests that both tablets will launch on October 13, though pricing was not mentioned.
16GB Storage? After the OS, there’s not much left.
This will have Windows 8.1 on it which uses a lot less disk space that windows 8. Still 16gb is boarder line as just under half of that will be taken. Surface RT 32gb users will be in for a nice surprise when they update to Windows 8.1 though 🙂
I desperately want a new Windows 8 tablet, but I just bought a Android tablet last year. It doesn’t do anything!!!!!!!!! Its just a toy for games and facebook. Doing any work on a iPad or Droid is a freaking tedious chore.
