New Screenshots Surface Showing Windows 8.1 Build 9374

Never a bad feeling when reporting events like this. While Microsoft my already have confirmed the Blue phenomenon, the software titan has stopped shy of providing any more details on what exactly it is cooking.

A bunch of fresh new screen grabs shows that development of the first preview version of the new operating system is coming along according to plan.

Some adventurous folks over at Microsoft Portal have published a new set of screenshots, which while do not provide any new details, but at least confirm the fact that Windows 8.1 Pro Preview is currently being tested by some select Redmond partners.

What this also means is that a public beta could very well be in the pipeline for a June release.

Previous rumors have suggested that Microsoft is gearing up to launch the first beta of Windows 8.1 this summer, and a public debut at the BUILD developer conference (in June) is all but confirmed.

Expect Microsoft to release an official statement on this very soon as the upcoming developer conference is the perfect opportunity for the company to get in touch with developers while collecting vital feedback about the upcoming update to its flagship OS.

Final release is widely expected in August — however at least one source has pegged September as the likely month when Windows 8.1 is set to hit store shelves.
