Microsoft is expected to take the wraps off its new line of Surface hardware next month, and Surface Pro 7 is very likely to lead the charge at this anticipated NYC event.

Details of which you can gather here.

And although leaks have been few and far between lately, we may have some new insights on what the company may be cooking for its new Surface Pro 7 device that will debut on October 2 and go on sale a few weeks later.

People familiar with the matter claim that most of the improvements on the Surface Pro 7 will take place under the hood. In other words, the device will feature latest-generation hardware.

This report claims that this new machine will make use of the new 10th generation CPUs from Intel. It may also come with a RAM upgrade, though specific details on this are not available right now. An upgraded Touch Cover with improved key travel and touchpad are also on the card.

One point of contention is the availability of USB-C on the Surface Pro.

Surface Pro 7 will get this port, but at the same time Microsoft is in no mood to get rid of the Surface Connect for the time being. What will most likely happen is that we will get a transition period, with the former being removed by the time the next model rolls around this time next year.

To top it off, the German site also claims that Microsoft will release a version of the Surface Pro 7 with the Snapdragon 8cx processor.

The focus of this Windows 10 ARM variant will be on extended battery life and LTE connectivity.

Good stuff.

We should be hearing more of these leaks as we approach the October event, and others get a chance to try out these devices before the big meetup.
