New Windows 8 performance improvements

Quick boot History has shown us that every version of windows released till date consistently shows improvements in booting system. This time Microsoft has truly outdone themselves, in booting and getting you onto the Metro screen in an average of nine seconds. The magic takes place when the system shuts down and the OS goes into hibernation. The contents of the RAM are, for the time being, saved to your hard drive. Hence when you restart your system booting becomes considerably quicker. Picture passwords Any tech savvy individual will already have several passwords to memorize and time and again mix things up unintentionally. Developers at windows 8 have taken such issues into deep consideration and have thus created the unusually brilliant – picture password. You will be given a list of pictures to choose from and on your selected picture you can save gestures like, tapping the door, roof etc. windows 8 will remember your gesture and won’t allow the user access unless those gestures are repeated on that exact same image in the exact same way. Windows 8 closes apps automatically. In all previous versions of windows, the OS leaves the user to manage the programs launched. The system won’t stop the user launching a program and as the number of running programs increase the system gets slower until it eventually runs of RAM, and begins using disk space. In windows 8 a new trick comes into play in case of Metro apps. You can start any number of apps you wish to, but when the OS is close to utilizing the entire RAM, it begins to automatically shut off any apps which you haven’t used in a while. You won’t lose any data as the OS saves any changes you have made before shutting it off. Automatic backup Any avid window OS user knows the importance of “backups “in times of crashes, and other such incidents. Windows 8 possesses a unique feature called “file history” which can be used to automatically back up those selected important folders, and the backup is carried out at a frequency specified by the user. This includes entire system backups and even gives the user the ability to save important files like documents to a USB drive. Once the orders are given no further configuration is needed, all one has to do is plug in the drive according to the backup frequency which has been selected. The files to backup will be detected automatically and the OS gets to work without bothering the user. Refresh your PC In previous versions of Windows if something went horribly wrong with the OS and the system, a clean install can be undertaken. This solves the problem but is a long and irritating procedure as you will have to first find the installation disc, re–read the information and instructions and choose the correct installation options. The new Windows 8 OS has taken care of this problem with their new feature called “refresh your pc”. This will reinstall windows on the computer without a disc, without the long list of inputs, and does it all rather quickly.
