Things are moving ahead! We have heard quite a few things about Microsoft launching a next-gen Surface device or two later this year, and one such model has made an appearance.
In FCC certification, where else?
Redmond recently applied for certification for a portable computing device, most likely the Surface Pro 8, and the certification appeared in the FCC certification this week titled “Microsoft Corporation Portable Computing Device” with the below identification numbers.
C3K2010, C3K-2010, C3K 2010, C3K2010, C3K2O1O, and C3K20I0.
Obviously, Portable Computing Device is a very generic term that Microsoft has previously used for products like the Surface Pro, Surface Go, and even the Surface Laptop.
Additionally, the company has also received FCC approval for an Intel LAN module with an “1983” ID, with the product itself being called the “Wireless LAN Module”.
This filing indicates that the Surface Pro 8 or any other device from the lineup will support WiFi 6 from the Intel AX201 adapter. This particular adapter supports Wi-Fi standard known as 802.11ax, alongside the latest version of Bluetooth 5.
Finally, an FCC filing for “Wireless Input Accessory Device” has also been spotted, which might be a new mouse from the tech giant.
We have known for a while now that Microsoft has been testing Surface Pro 8 for consumers for a while now, with the device itself expected to be announced at a September 22 event. Shipping should begin in the coming weeks.
And with the launch slowly approaching, it is likely that we will learn more about these devices in the coming days.
