Nokia To Bring HERE Maps On All Windows 8.1 Devices

application. Now, however, the company has announced that it will be launching the app on any and all Windows 8.1 devices. And not just that, it is also promising plenty of new features — new options and performance improvements. In a post on its official blog, Nokia said:

“As with the previous version of the app it is an all-in-one mapping solution, combining vector, satellite and 3D maps, points of interest, search and route planning. Complete country maps can also be downloaded for offline use, just like you may be used to doing on Windows Phone 8 smartphones.”
Speed is an area where the app could use some improvements, and the company has greatly enhanced this in the new version. Loading of offline maps and navigation, according to Nokia, will be faster in the updated version, thanks to optimizations to the data transfer process. City pages, for instance, are now said to load up to four times faster due to progressive rendering. Nokia will also offer high-resolution satellite imagery in this upcoming new version of the app, and both tablet and desktop users will get access to high zoom levels for the covered locations. Nokia HERE Maps for all Windows 8.1 devices will debut in the coming days, as a free download. With LTE enabled Surface 2 tablets on the way, the updated app could not have come at a better time.]]>
