Nokia Play To App For Windows Phone 8 Devices Set For Early Next Year

Nokia Beta Labs that the application will be ready for Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 devices early next year. The lead program manager, Eero Penttinen had this to share:

“ETA for the availability of PlayTo for Nokia WP8 devices is 1Q 2013. We are working hard to make it available ASAP, but we do have dependencies to underlying DLNA services which can only be delivered with updated firmware”.
Seems legit. The DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) supported application was initially launched on the Symbian platform, before being ported to Windows Phone 7 to great success. It is estimated that there are currently more than 440 million DLNA-certified devices out in the open, from digital cameras to HDTVs. Lumia owners running Windows Phone 8 have eagerly been awaiting the port, as the current version is incompatible with the newer OS and screen resolutions. Currently the development team is finishing up the application and preparing to make it available for beta testing. More information is said to be available soon. We’ll keep you posted as soon as some movement occurs on this front.]]>
