Redmond has had a bit of an exodus of sorts recently, with many a key executives parting ways with the software titan in the past few months, some high profile ones, other nearly not so high profile.

But talent going out of the company was a bit of a concern for the industry.

It appears that it was not a one way street, after all. The software titan is also active in snapping up new blood for important positions. Case in point, this recent signing today of a former rival employee!

Microsoft has just announced that Judson Althoff, a former vice president for worldwide alliances and vice president of global platform and distribution sales at Oracle has just joined the company.

He will be leading the company’s North American Sales & Marketing division.

Althoff will have a title of a corporate vice president and take charge as the head of the above division on March 29, 2013. He will report directly to Kevin Turner, Redmond’s chief operating officer.

In a prepared statement, Turner said:

“Judson has a track record of successfully developing, growing and leading global sales organizations with a culture of execution excellence. Judson’s proven leadership will enable us to continue to excel in delivering the best devices and services experience to our customers including businesses and consumers.”

Prior to joining Oracle, Judson was responsible for several key roles in EMC Corporation, so he is definitely a big catch for Microsoft.

It will be interesting to see what kind of a direction change Althoff manages to bring to this prestigious position. Most of his decisions will reflect on Microsoft’s global operation as well.
