And that leaves you guys no excuse not to download the game right away, no questions asked. Rovio has just released the game that started it all on Microsoft’s mobile platform.
The original Angry Birds is now available both for Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8.
Angry Birds took first flight on the iPhone, some three years back. The developers actually released a version for Windows Phone 7 in June 2011, but for some odd reason it was soon abandoned and never updated with additional new content.
There is a fair chance that Rovio factored in Windows Phone 8, and held off further development once things settled for Microsoft’s mobile platform.
Well now they have, and the company has released a fresh new variant for both versions of Windows Phone. And to celebrate the occasion, the game will be free for the next couple of weeks or so, until May 15, that is.
The Angry Birds franchise is undoubtedly the biggest mobile gaming franchise of all time — with several titles under the banner, all of which constant rank high in downloads on various app stores.
The original, in particular, was noted for being the best-selling iOS app of all time.
Rovio also brought other titles in the franchise to Microsoft’s mobile platform. Angry Birds Space launched on Windows Phone some seven months after its iOS and Android release, while Angry Birds Star Wars was released the same day on all three platforms.
For the time being, however, it is all about the original classic that started it all.
If you have yet to download this highly-engaging casual game, then point your compass to the Windows Phone Store and get the title while the promotion lasts.
