Today’s the day! The BUILD developer conference is finally upon us, and new Microsoft products like Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, Surface Mini are expected to make their debut at the anticipated event.
Windows 8.1 Preview is obviously most people are looking out for — but Redmond will also release an update for the Windows RT platform that currently powers several tablet devices, including the company’s very own Surface RT.
Speaking of which, the folks over at WinFuture have spotted a Surface RT tablet already running Windows RT 8.1 at BUILD, which basically means that the software titan will roll out the preview version of this operating system in just a few hours.

But previous reports have indicated that this upgrade to the tablet-oriented operating system is set to bring several of the features that are to be the part of its desktop counterpart (Windows 8.1).
Microsoft is expected to significantly improve the Start screen with new Live Tile size options, plus a plethora of customization options to enhance the Metro UI. Along with these cosmetic changes, the software titan is projected to bring several new features and improvements to the ones already present.
More importantly, Redmond is said to offer the Start screen (and the Windows Store) in portrait mode, considering Windows RT 8.1 is designed to work with smaller tablets.
