Samsung is in the house! The Korean technology giant has just unveiled the Galaxy Book 2, its first Windows on ARM PC that is powered by the newly available Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 chipset.
Making it the only device to be announced alongside the Lenovo Yoga C630 that houses this chip.
As expected, this is a Surface Pro style tablet — complete with a kickstand, an attachable keyboard and even an S Pen that attaches itself to the device automatically. But the real start of the show is the Super AMOLED display, which is still a rarity on PCs.
It’s a 12-inch 1440p affair, with a 3:2 aspect ratio.
Since it is powered by a Snapdragon 850 SoC, this new creation already comes with 1.2Gbps 4G LTE connectivity. Likewise, the device will be sold by carriers, including AT&T, Verizon and Sprint.
They will get the device later in November, while AT&T, Microsoft and Samsung plan to make it available for purchase on November 2 on their websites.
Getting back to the hardware side of things, though, the CPU is derived from the Snapdragon 845, and has four cores clocked at 2.96GHz and another four that beat at 1.7GHz. This gives this device a massive advantage in battery life, which comes in at 20 hours if kept in the S Mode.
Speaking of which, the Galaxy Book 2 comes running Windows 10 Home, and comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.
Nothing earth shattering in terms of hardware, but unlike other competing devices, you at least get the attachable keyboard and S Pen for the price of $999.
