Samsung Launches ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T Windows 8 Tablet

The lack of touch-enabled devices running Windows 8 has often been cited as one of the reasons for the slow uptake of Microsoft’s latest operating system, but things it seems are taking a turn for the better.

More than a few hardware manufacturers have promised to bring new devices to the market in the coming months. Korean giant Samsung is one of the more active Microsoft partners with several Windows 8 models already available, and others in the pipeline.

Samsung’s ATIV Smart PC Pro line of devices is one that is making the news recently. And now the company has officially launched the ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T tablet.

Sporting an 11.6-inch LED backlit display (with 10-point touch), the slate houses an Intel Core i5-3317U processor and pairs it with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a 128GB solid state drive.

Decent amount of power — as can be seen.

More importantly 4G LTE support is available thanks to AT&T, and as for other connectivity options, USB 3.0 and Wi-Fi also make the cut.

The most distinguishing factor is the inclusion of a detachable keyboard along with the S Pen stylus, allowing users to take notes, do some sketching and send handwritten messages.

While the specs are mouthwatering and sleekness guaranteed, the price of $1,599.99 is sure to put a lot of users off — this is clearly a device more at home for business meetings.
