With Teams having superseded Skype as Microsoft’s communication platform of choice, the company is adding new features to the solution at a breakneck pace.

This time, the firm is here with a new service plan for business customers.

Going by the mouthful of a name, Teams Phone with Calling Plan is actually Redmond merging its Microsoft 365 Business Voice with its Enterprise offerings into a new SKU. For the uninitiated, this is a cloud-based phone system for small and medium businesses built for Microsoft Teams.

The aim is to simplify the purchase decision process while streamlining the delivery of enterprise-grade capabilities for SMBs.

Microsoft describes this product as:

“Teams Phone with Calling Plan is an all-in-one communication solution that helps SMBs reduce costs and simplify operations. It brings together calling, chat, meetings, and collaboration into a single app, enabling users to make phone calls from anywhere, on any device—including computers, smart phones, desk phones, and meeting rooms. It combines essential telephony components: A phone system and domestic calling plan, into a single package.”

With this new service, businesses will be able to make secure, reliable, and rich calls. They will also benefit from enterprise-focused features like auto-attendants, call queues, consultative transfer, and voicemail transcription.

It leverages Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, which enables the service to provide reliable, high-quality audio and AI-powered capabilities.

This new arrival is set for next year.

Businesses interested in the plan will be able to buy it in 33 markets through partners from January 1, 2022. Companies that use other Microsoft 365 or Office 365 services will be able to manage this plan through the same admin console.

Microsoft will also offer this new service directly starting January 3 if your business is located in the US, UK, or Canada. Businesses in other markets can get the plan through the Redmond-based software titan later in January.
