Spring Creators Update Could Be Delayed Further

April 19, 2018

No end to the drama! The launch of the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update has turned into quite a disaster, as another release candidate build of the operating system is facing its own serious bug.

This, after the previous one was plagued with issues that forced Microsoft to delay the public rollout.

As things stand, the public release of this major update to the OS could be further delayed, as the software titan gets down to investigate this latest problem that is affecting some specific Windows 10 build 17134 installations.

Luckily, users that are on the Skip Ahead ring and are testing the Redstone 5 builds don’t have to deal with this particular bug that affects the Settings app.

Word is that this issue could be widespread, as several users have reported this problem.

Basically, every time a user tries to change the default apps in Settings, the entire app ends up crashing. Goes without saying that this is a particular severe bug that impacts usability of the operating system and limits users that want to change their default apps and programs for specific files.

For Microsoft, things just got worse from bad.

The company is already 9 days late, as this upcoming version of Windows 10 was expected to drop on April 10. More so, the previous RTM candidate was promoted to all ring of the preview program, and even received cumulative updates before this blocking bug was discovered.

Now, if the software titan ends up selecting another release candidate, an unprecedented third one, it will take another few weeks to test that fresh version.

Here’s hoping that Redmond selects a more accurate name for this particular version of Windows 10, considering all these unexpected delays it is facing.

More on this as it develops.
