Surface Andromeda may still be a device that has an uncertain future according to latest rumors, but that does not mean Microsoft is not working on refining this mythic device.

Which the company assured may yet see the light of day.

Anyway, the device that is said to sport a dual-screen design with support for multiple form factors was supposed to launch this year before Microsoft pushed it back to 2019. In the meantime, the company continues to develop and refine the feature set of this pocketable Surface.

The latest is that Andromeda may support a docking mode that would power advanced functionality, including connectivity to a bigger screen for a PC like experience.

Discovered by a regular Microsoft watcher in a language pack, the code indicates that Andromeda may come with two different modes called Presenter and Productivity — both these modes are powered by a standalone dock.

Not unlike the one offered on the Lumia 950 XL and the HP Elite x3.

Seeing Redmond borrow support from docks from Windows 10 Mobile is not surprising, considering this was one of the most appreciated features of both these abovementioned handsets.

And even as other companies like Samsung have moved in with this functionality for their mobile devices, Microsoft certainly has the knowhow to build it.

We’ll wait and see how Andromeda takes shape, but there’s no denying that excitement about it continues to grow.

Roll on 2019!
