Now, that’s what I call evolution! Images claiming to be what is the Surface Duo 2 have leaked online, providing us with our first look at its triple-camera array at the back.

And a sleek new black color.

This Android powered handset is on track to launch later this year, and we have known for a while now that the Microsoft is developing it. In fact, work on this second-generation model started soon after the first one was ready to face the world.

With the Duo 2 supposedly right around the corner, photos showing the handset have been posted on YouTube of all places.

Here are the photos for your viewing pleasure:

As you might expect, the design of this phone is not a whole lot different than the first-generation Surface Duo. It still comes with two screens, one hinge in the middle, with a glass back, and a Surface logo on the back.

The biggest different, of course, being the fact that the Duo 2 now houses a triple-camera system that is in line with what is now bare minimum for smartphones these days. Gone is the age of a single camera, which the first-generation model shipped with. Even that, it was a very underwhelming 12MP affair.

What’s odd is that the addition of the camera array has introduced a camera bump that is almost certain to hinder the ability of the device to fold flat.

Additionally, the leaker claims that the device may sport a larger display thanks to smaller bezels that make up the more rounded frame.

Following up with additional information, a report reveals that the array might include an ultra-wide-angle shooter and a telephoto lens alongside the standard main camera. Should definitely make the device more potent when it comes to photography, justifying its flagship stature.

Speaking of flagship statute, there is talk that the Duo 2 will feature a Snapdragon 888 SoC, which will also pack in support for 5G.

No word on the price of the Surface Duo 2 just yet, or even which version of Android it will run out of he box. But Microsoft is expected to launch this new handset sometime in September or October.

And we are sure to get more details prior to that.
